Manchester Central Library Lovers is a fundraising campaign created by the Manchester Central Library Development Trust , the charity which supports the work of Manchester’s iconic Central Library in St Peter’s Square.
The Development Trust (registered charity no. 1150161) helps Central Library across a wide range of areas. This includes allowing it to stay open for longer, and more often, for activities including special Sunday Fundays for families.
The Trust also helps to fund special events, exhibitions, festivals, education projects and community programmes hosted in the Library. Recently the Trust has announced a number of initiatives to help people get more involved with supporting the Library, and to help it to raise more funds.
Library Lounge is a series of relaxed ‘in conversation’ events featuring interesting and engaging guests hosted at Central Library where any funds raised, through either ticket sales or donations on the night, go directly to the Trust.
Then we have the Central Library Lovers’ membership scheme where, for a modest annual subscription, individuals and couples can get discounts in the Library Shop and café, gain access to exclusive events, enjoy special ‘behind the scenes’ tours, and much more.
Your support will help the Library undertake valuable conservation work, run more community events, programme more live concerts, hold more author readings, put on more film screenings and host more exhibitions
Back A Book allows you to nominate any book or publication stocked by the Library and sponsor that specific title for three years for just £300. In return for your donation you get an elegant, personalised award – featuring the book you have backed – which will make for a great talking point in your workplace or at home.
A Back A Book sponsorship would also make an ideal gift for someone you know who is passionate about a particular author, book or subject matter. Further, library staff are on hand to help you chose a title if you are not sure which book or publication might be appropriate.
